IVG and Cushman & Wakefield publish their Real Estate Barometer for European Office Markets for Q3 2006
The upward trend of the last two years on the major European office markets is continuing. Rental turnover and prices are increasing, while vacancy rates and yields are still declining. However, the up-ward movement is not as strong as in the previous quarters
The seasonal downturn in German house prices has started earlier this year and October data indicate that no improvement is likely in the short term, the Hypoport German House Price Index (HPX) shows. Residential property prices turned lower across the board in both August and September so that by end-September they were down 3.2% from a year ago. By end-September 2006, existing house prices were down 5.4% y/y, most hit by the echo effects of the early-year mortgage rush
This paper by EPRA - European Public Real Estate Association - will briefly set out recent major developments in existing REIT regimes in Europe and will discuss some of the developments that are expected to take place. It will not go into great technical detail, but rather will focus on crucial legal and regulatory issues and the latest news. A brief explanation of the impact of European law on the REIT regimes will be given in the last section.
